πŸ’“Periodic Reviews (The Heartbeat)

Obsibrain's powerful periodic review system empowers you to regularly reflect on your progress, celebrate your accomplishments, and identify areas for improvement across all aspects of your life.

Quick overview of the periodic reviews feature.

Accessing Periodic Reviews

To access the periodic review features, simply navigate to the 0-plan section of your Obsibrain vault, as shown in Screen 1. Here, you'll find a variety of review options, including daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reviews.

1 - Periodic reviews folders.

Creating Periodic Reviews

To create a new periodic review, open the command palette (using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + P) and search for the review type you'd like to create, as seen in Screen 2.

When choosing for periodic reviews, Obsibrain will guide you on the appropriate period for the review to be created.

πŸ•’ Backfilling Your History

Missed a few weeks? Don't worry. Obsibrain allows you to create periodic notes for the previous year. This is perfect for "catching up" on your journaling or backfilling your history to maintain a consistent record of your growth. When you run a review command, the system will offer you the option to select the relevant timeframe.

Review Cycles (The "Heartbeat")

Obsibrain helps you stay aligned through nested review cycles. Each level "zooms out" for a broader perspective, ensuring your daily execution remains connected to your high-level P.A.R.A. structure:

  • Weekly Review (Alignment): The bridge between your daily tasks and your Projects and Areas. Focus on clearing your inbox (the 5-notes folder), processing unplanned tasks, and setting intentions for the coming week.

  • Monthly & Quarterly Strategy (Momentum): High-level checks on your progress. Review financial snapshots, track skills, and adjust Project priorities to ensure you're still moving toward your big-picture goals.

  • Yearly Reflection (Vision): The ultimate review. This is where you design your ideal year ahead using deep reflection tools:

    • The Wheel of Life: A visual tool to assess your balance across all core Areas (Health, Career, Finance, etc.).

    • 80/20 Analysis: Identify the 20% of activities that drove 80% of your results and happiness last year, allowing you to double down on what works.

Periodic Review Structure: Close, Reflect, Plan

Each periodic review follows a proven three-step architecture to ensure you don't just "journal," but actually generate actionable insights:

  1. Close (The Clean Sweep): Take a moment to declutter. Sort through your 5-notes inbox, archive completed projects, and clear your physical and digital workspaces.

  2. Reflect (The Insight Phase): Answer a series of guided questions (customizable in settings) to celebrate wins, identify friction, and learn from the past cycle.

  3. Plan (The Action Phase): Use your reflections to set new SMART Projects, redefine Goals, and schedule the tasks that will move the needle in the next cycle.

Screen 3 provides an example of the weekly review template, which acts as the "Alignment Bridge" for your system.
