🐒Slow loading time on mobile using iCloud syncing?

🐒 Improving Mobile Loading Times (iCloud)

If you use Apple iCloud to sync your Obsibrain vault, you might notice that the Obsidian mobile app occasionally takes a long time to load or "freezes" on the startup screen.

The Cause: "On-Demand" Downloading

By default, iCloud often offloads files you haven't used recently to the cloud to save space on your phone. When you open Obsidian, it needs to access every configuration file and script to start the Obsibrain "engine." If those files are in the cloud, Obsidian has to wait for iCloud to download them one by one, causing a slow start.

The Fix: "Keep Downloaded"

To ensure instant loading, you must tell your mobile device to keep the Obsibrain vault permanently on your local storage.

  1. Open the "Files" App on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Navigate to the Obsidian folder in your iCloud Drive.

  3. Long-press on your Obsibrain vault folder.

  4. Select "Keep Downloaded" (or the cloud icon with a downward arrow).

Once enabled, your device will prioritize keeping these files local, and your startup time will remain snappy.

Ensure the vault is always downloaded for peak mobile performance.
